Raging Bull (50 Metre Cavalry Officer)
 | This discipline can be shot over static or turning target ranges and is
suitable for all powder and ball revolvers that have six or more chambers. |
 | The course of fire for this competition is as follows:
 | Practice 1: 50 metres, 6 shots in 60 seconds 3 shots on each
target |
 | Practice 2: 40 metres, 6 shots in 60 seconds - 3 shots on each target |
 | Practice 3: 35 metres, 6 shots in 50 seconds - 4 shots on the left
and 2 on the right target |
 | Practice 4: 30 metres, 6 shots in 50
seconds - 2 shots on the right, 2 shots on the left and
2 shots on the right target
|
|
 | Targets - 2 x DP2. |
 | Position/Grip Free standing unsupported - two-handed grip may be used |
 | In the event of a misfire the competitor will be allowed to
recap their pistol and attempt a further shot. No extra time will be allowed for this
procedure. |
 | All scoring to be done at the end of the detail. |
At the firing point:
 | Range Commands - On the command "CAP YOUR FIREARM" the
competitor caps the prepared revolver. |
 | On the command "MAKE READY" competitors adopt the ready
position, revolver held at an angle of 45° pointing towards the ground. |
 | It is at the preference of the each competitor whether they wish to keep
their revolvers un-cocked or cocked at this stage. |
 | On the command "IS ANYBODY NOT READY?" if there is no response
within 3 seconds, the R.O begins the practice. For Practices 1,2 & 4 this will be at
the command "COMMENCE FIRE". For Practice 3 the RO will operate the turning
targets. However, if a competitor calls "NOT READY" the R.O. waits about 15
seconds and repeats the question "IS ANYBODY NOT READY?". |
 | When the practice is completed the R.O. gives command "DETAIL
OVER" followed shortly after by an order to "SHOW SAFE" and all revolvers
are then checked as Range Safe. |
 | Any competitor whose revolver is found to be loaded will be ordered by
the R.O. to fully discharge it into the bullet catcher. |
 | Misfires will be dealt with following normal standing orders and under
R.O. supervision where required. |
 | For practices 2-4 revolvers to be loaded in the designated loading area behind the
firing point. Movement to and from the loading area will be under R.O control. |
 | The loading procedure for these practices to begin on the command "PREPARE YOUR
FIREARM" and to take no longer than 4 minutes. |
 | Revolvers MUST NOT be capped until the appropriate distance down range and
after the R.Os specific command to "CAP YOUR FIREARM". |
 | In order to facilitate easier reloading the use of one or more revolvers will be
permitted over the course of fire but only one revolver will be used on each practice.
However, if a competitor experiences a revolver failure during any practice then this
competitor may attempt to remedy that particular failure in time for it to be used in the
next or preceding practice. Any competitor unable to clear the malfunction prior to the
start of the next practice will be unable to continue. |
 | If a competitor fires a shot, or shots, after the ROs command "DETAIL
OVER" then these will be considered illegal shots. At the end of the
competition the offending competitor will have their best scores deducted from their
overall score by the number of these illegal shots. Again, where more than the expected
number of shots on each target is discovered the competitor will have their score reduced
in a similar manner by the number of unexpected shots. |
RANGE CONTROL
 | In the event that Turning Targets are unavailable each practice will be
controlled by stopwatch and whistle. |
